Why use Just-In-Time (JIT) Learning?
This on-line Just-In-Time (JIT) training materials give producers farmers immediate access to critical information exactly when they need it, without waiting for in-person workshops or reading through large manuals.
Farmers can learn by using a step-by-step process at their own pace and return to materials whenever questions arise, supporting confident, timely decision-making during mortality events.
What species does the training cover?
While training is focused on the needs of dairy producers, the information is applicable to any livestock owners. A special addendum is also included addressing some special considerations for poultry farmers.
How does this on-line training work?
Using a series of seven short modules, producers will learn how to manage on-farm composting of animal mortalities. While it is recommended that producers complete the modules in order, some might skip ahead to modules which address their specific needs.
Who is this course designed for?
The training will be valuable to any livestock producers needing to address mortality disposal. Other stakeholders working with producers such as processor and trade group field staff, veterinarians and nutrient consultants may also benefit from the information, particularly when coordinating with producers.

How long does the course take to complete?
It’s estimated that each module can be completed in 30 minutes, including reading the text, watching relevant videos and answering module questions at the end. The website however offers additional information including fact sheets, manuals, video links, etc. in the resources section.
